Mill Town Brings Long Awaited Revitalization To Key Section Of Chattanooga’s Main Street Corridor

After years of false starts and a series of failed attempts by other developers, Chattanooga-based Collier Construction has successfully launched a vibrant, new nearly 50-acre development around the former Standard Coosa Mill on the eastern corridor of Main Street, said officials. Named Mill Town because of its rich industrial heritage dating back to the early 1900’s, new single-family housing units are now available for sale and for rent in the city’s newest urban mixed-use development.

“We couldn’t be more excited that in the next few weeks, the first Mill Town residents will be living in this transformed neighborhood that we have seen change before our eyes over the past three years,” said Ethan Collier, president of Collier Construction.  “Our vision of creating a mixed-use, mixed-income neighborhood in the heart of our city with market rate and affordable options is well underway and positively altering the landscape of what was once a blighted and abandoned manufacturing facility.”

The first phase of Mill Town includes two city blocks with single-family 2 and 3-bedroom homes and 3-bedroom townhouses.  In the next 4-6 months, more for sale single family housing will be launched along with a number of new multi-family apartment units.

As the population of Mill Town grows, plans are underway to reactivate the Standard Coosa Mill with a potential mix of retail, office, restaurants and housing.

The first element of Mill Town to come online is a community of single-family homes which will be followed by townhomes all of which are being offered for rent.  The initial phase of this urban development includes spacious porches with every unit and a dedicated community green space (bounded by E19th Street, South Watkins, South Lyerly Street, and 18th Street Place).

The Mill Town rental community has been created through a joint partnership with RoseRock Development, Collier Construction and Generation Property Management.  Last year the team, led by Texas based RoseRock, successfully developed, built and stabilized Julia’s Park in Red Bank, which was Chattanooga first single family rental neighborhood.

“We have loved being in the Chattanooga market and are so excited to be partnered up again with Collier Construction and Generation Property Management in Mill Town,” said John Jordan, CEO of RoseRock.  “Helping Ethan bring to life his vision of rejuvenating what will once again become a vibrant part of the city’s downtown is thrilling and will provide our residents with a carefully curated living experience that we believe will become one of the most unique and sought-after housing options in the city.”

The initial eight homes will be made available for rent immediately with another eight that will be ready in the coming weeks.  They will be quickly followed by 32 townhomes that are scheduled to be available for occupants by the end of the summer.

“We have loved the opportunity to be a part of such a strong partnership and to help meet the tremendous need for new housing units in Chattanooga,” said Todd Womack, president of Generation Property Management.  “As it is built out over the next three to four years, we believe that Mill Town will help extend the energy of Main Street all the way to Dodds Avenue bringing transformation and vitality to what previously was a neglected part of our city.”

“Only five minutes from the heart of downtown Chattanooga and just off Main Street, Mill Town will provide our residents with a high-end, worry-free lifestyle,” said Ryan Breneman, CEO of Generation Property Management.  “Our generous floor plans feature 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath homes with garages and outdoor living spaces creating what we believe to be one of the best values and living experiences in the Southside.”
